Bunion Deformity: A bunion appears as an enlargement that forms at the big toe joint. Though it appears as a bump, this condition reflects changes to the bone structure of the joint. Left unmanaged, these changes may continue to progress and can eventually result in pain, numbness, inflammation and redness, or burning sensations. There are many approaches to treating this condition. Non-surgical options may include the use of padding, medications, injections, orthotic devices, or changes in footwear. If nonsurgical methods fail, surgical options can be discussed.
